The stars of Netflix shows “Luke Cage” and “Queer Eye” reveal their irrational fears. (June 14)
“Queer Eye” star Jonathan Van Ness is firing back at critics who chided his choice of attire at the Creative Arts Emmys Sunday.
Van Ness – who is the grooming expert on the popular Netflix series – wore a black gown with a sheer top and boots on the red carpet, before “Queer Eye” took home three Creative Emmys, including outstanding structured reality program.
A majority of social media users couldn’t get enough of the Fab Five’s glam, but not everyone was a fan. One Instagram user commented: “The guy in the dress looks like the villain in despicable me 3.”
In typical Van Ness fashion, the 31-year-old clapped back: “I look (expletive) stunning and my name is Jonathan, snap chat filter using on your Insta tiny circle private profile having self.”
The exchange was captured by the Instagram account Comments by Celebs. Van Ness continued, “Also I love all these transphobic comments in here. ‘The guy in a dress’ is insulting and for anyone that doesn’t see the implications is blind.”
He thanked his glam team on his personal account, adding “We absolutely came to slay this lewk & (expletive) a gender norm.”
The negativity towards his fashion seemed to be overwhelmed by the praise from fellow celebs.
Under his Instagram post, Reese Witherspoon commented, “Amazing.” Katie Couric added, “Congrats!!! You look absolutely gorg!!!”
Sophia Bush said, “You burned it DOWN hunney!!!!” “Crazy Rich Asians” star Constance Wu applauded, “Love this.”
“Pretty Little Liars” star Ashley Benson commented, “CHICCCCCCC.”
